AI Engineer – Medical Image Analysis (Cytology & Colposcopy)

About the Role

Manalife AI is looking for an AI Engineer to drive innovation in medical image analysis for women's health. You will work on developing, training, and deploying AI/ML models that analyze colposcopy and cytology images to assist in cervical cancer detection and clinical decision support.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize deep learning models (e.g., CNNs, transformers) for medical image segmentation, classification, and detection.
• Preprocess and augment image datasets (e.g., colposcopy, Pap smear WSI).
• Collaborate with clinical experts to annotate data and validate model outputs.
• Perform model evaluation (e.g., ROC, AUC, sensitivity/specificity) and explainability.
• Implement model inference pipelines for integration into digital health applications.
• Contribute to research papers, white papers, and publications if applicable.



Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Experience with medical imaging libraries (OpenCV, MONAI, SimpleITK, etc.).
• Familiarity with cytology or histopathology image analysis and associated challenges (e.g., stain variability, class imbalance).
• Good grasp of AI/ML concepts like transfer learning, fine-tuning, and evaluation metrics.
• Ability to work with noisy, imbalanced datasets and optimize for real-world performance.



Nice-to-Have

• Exposure to multimodal AI (e.g., combining images with clinical text).
• Familiarity with colposcopy-specific datasets (e.g., SIPaKMeD, SEVIA, MobileODT).
• Experience with cloud deployment (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Prior work in healthcare startups or AI research labs.
